AI-powered business ideas from photos
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 October 2026
Who we are
Business Capture ("the app") is provided by William Cheung, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the information described below.
You can contact us at williamcheungswift@outlook.com.
What the app does
You take a photo, and the app uses artificial intelligence to suggest business ideas based on it. You can save ideas on your device. You can subscribe to Premium for more scans.
What information we handle
| Information | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Photos you take in the app | To generate ideas | Sent over an encrypted connection to our server, then to Google's Gemini AI. We do not keep the photo. |
| Ideas generated for you (text only) | To let you open the details of an idea | Stored on our server for 30 days, then deleted automatically. |
| An anonymous account ID | To apply usage limits and to delete your data when you ask | Stored on our server (Google Firebase). It is not linked to your name or email. |
| Usage counts (number of scans) | To enforce free and daily limits | Stored on our server, linked to your anonymous ID, until you delete your data. |
| Subscription details (if you subscribe) | To unlock Premium | Apple gives the app a signed record of your subscription, which the app sends to our server. Our server checks Apple's signature and keeps only the subscription's ID and its expiry date, linked to your anonymous ID. We never see your payment details, name or Apple ID. |
| Device and app integrity checks | To block abuse and fake copies of the app | Handled by Apple (App Attest) and Google (Firebase App Check). |
| Technical logs (such as IP address, time and error messages) | To keep the service running and secure | Kept by Google Cloud, our hosting provider, for a short period (about 30 days). |
| Saved ideas | So you can come back to them | Stored only on your device. |
| Your skills (optional: roles and interests picked from a fixed list) | To suggest ideas that suit you | Stored only on your device. If you turn on "Use my skills" before a scan, your choices are sent with that scan's photo to our server and then to Google's Gemini AI. We do not keep them. |
| Budget (optional: an amount you pick from a list) | To suggest ideas you can afford to start | Sent with that scan's photo to our server and then to Google's Gemini AI. We do not keep it. |
We do not ask for your name, email address or location, and we do not use advertising or tracking.
How we use your photo
When you take a photo, it is resized on your device and sent to our server, which sends it to Google's Gemini API to generate ideas. The photo is not stored by us and is not shown to anyone else.
Google acts as our processor. We use Google's paid Gemini API, under which Google states that your content is not used to improve its products. Google may keep requests for a limited period for abuse and safety monitoring. See Google's terms: ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms.
What to photograph, and what to avoid:
- Public places are fine. For example, a street, shop front, park or market, as long as no one is identifiable in the shot.
- Please keep these out of the frame, wherever you are (including in public): people and faces, documents, and screens showing personal information. This includes bystanders.
- Please don't photograph inside private spaces such as someone's home or other places where people expect privacy.
This protects your privacy and other people's. Your photo is sent to Google's Gemini AI, and it may capture things you didn't intend. The AI is instructed not to identify people, but we can't guarantee that a photo containing a person or personal information won't be processed.
Our legal basis (UK GDPR)
- Consent – we ask for your agreement before your first photo is sent to the AI. You can withdraw it at any time in Settings. Withdrawing means the app will ask again before your next scan.
- Contract – to provide the service you asked for, including applying usage limits and Premium.
- Legitimate interests – to keep the app secure and prevent abuse.
How long we keep it
- Photos: not kept by us.
- Generated ideas on our server: 30 days, then deleted automatically.
- Usage counts and subscription details on our server: until you delete your data.
- Technical logs: about 30 days.
- Saved ideas on your device: until you delete them or delete the app. We don't back them up, so deleting the app deletes them.
- Ideas you share using the share button go wherever you choose to send them. We don't receive or control those copies.
- Apple keeps its own records of your purchases under its own policies.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw your consent.
- Delete your data: in the app, go to Settings → Delete my data. This removes your saved ideas and skills from your device, deletes your records on our server and your anonymous account, and withdraws your consent. If you still have an active subscription it stays active with Apple, and you can manage or cancel it in your Apple account settings.
- For anything else, email williamcheungswift@outlook.com.
You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk.
Who we share data with
- Google (Gemini AI, Firebase, Google Cloud) – to generate ideas, run our servers and check app integrity.
- Apple – App Attest, and subscription payments if you subscribe.
We do not sell your data and do not share it for advertising.
International transfers
Our servers are in the United Kingdom (London). Google may process data in other countries, such as when the Gemini AI handles a request. Where it does, it relies on appropriate safeguards, such as the UK's approved transfer terms.
Children
The app is not intended for anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Not advice
The ideas, revenue estimates, and legal and ethical points in the app are AI-generated suggestions to help you research. They are not legal, financial or professional advice. Check anything important with a qualified professional before acting on it.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes we will update the date above and, where needed, ask for your consent again.

Terms of Use
Last updated: 27 October 2026
These terms are between you and William Cheung, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). They apply when you use the Business Capture app ("the app"). By using the app you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
The service
The app uses artificial intelligence to suggest business ideas from photos you take, with estimates and points to consider for each idea.
Not advice
The ideas, revenue and cost estimates, and legal and ethical points are AI-generated suggestions to help you research. They can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. They are not legal, financial, tax or professional advice, and we don't guarantee that any idea will work or make money. Check anything important with a qualified professional before you act on it. You are responsible for your own decisions.
Using the app
You agree to:
- Use the app lawfully and only for yourself.
- Photograph only things you are allowed to photograph. Keep people, faces, documents and screens showing personal information out of the frame, and don't photograph inside private spaces.
- Not try to break, overload or misuse the app or our servers, work around its limits, or copy or reverse engineer it.
- Not use the app to create anything illegal, harmful or deceptive.
You must be at least 18 to use the app.
Your ideas
The ideas the app suggests are yours to use. We don't claim ownership of them. Because they are AI-generated, other people may receive the same or similar ideas, and we can't promise that an idea is original or free from other people's rights. Check this before you rely on it.
Free scans and Premium
- Free: you get 3 scans in total.
- Premium: a monthly subscription that gives you 3 scans a day. Scans reset at midnight UTC.
- We may change the number of scans, or the price for future billing periods, and will tell you in the app before it affects you.
Subscription terms:
- The price is shown in the app before you subscribe, in your local currency. At the time of writing it is £4.99 per month.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase.
- Your subscription renews automatically each month unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- Manage or cancel your subscription any time in your Apple account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Cancelling stops future renewals. You keep Premium until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Payments, refunds and billing problems are handled by Apple. To ask for a refund, go to reportaproblem.apple.com. This doesn't affect any legal rights you have as a consumer.
- Subscriptions can't be shared through Family Sharing.
Availability
We aim to keep the app working but can't promise it will always be available or free from errors. The AI service we rely on can be slow, unavailable or refuse certain photos. If a scan fails, it doesn't count against your limit. We may change, suspend or stop any part of the app.
Ending your use
You can stop using the app at any time, and delete your data in Settings → Delete my data. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or misuse the app.
Our responsibility
Nothing in these terms limits any responsibility that can't legally be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or your legal rights as a consumer.
Subject to that, we aren't responsible for losses that come from relying on the ideas or estimates in the app, or for losses we couldn't reasonably have foreseen. Where we are responsible to you, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the problem arose.
Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to give support or maintenance for the app, and isn't responsible for claims about it. If the app fails to meet a warranty, you may tell Apple, who may refund the purchase price if you paid for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You must also follow the terms of your Apple Media Services agreement.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If we make significant changes we will update the date above and, where needed, tell you in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in the UK, you can bring a dispute in the courts of the part of the UK where you live. Your rights as a consumer aren't affected.
